EduFest: Festival of Studying and Student Life, the biggest educational event in Croatia and region
About the EduFest?
Students, parents and teaching staff can explore the possibilities of financial support for studying in Croatia and abroad.
EduFest: Festival of studying and student life is the largest educational event in Croatia and the region. It was held for the first time in 2005 as a Scholarship Fair. For many years, the Higher Education and Scholarship Fair was held at three locations - in Zagreb, Rijeka and Zadar - which made the Fair recognizable and popular among exhibitors and visitors.
However, the pandemic has made virtual formats of events, teaching and socialising the new normal. The wish of the organiser was to be included in the new perspectives of our users, but also to set a standard for online educational events and reaffirm the status of the SAS Fair as an event of exceptional national and regional interest.
After three years of virtual edition, the Fair returns in a new guise, with a new concept, as EduFest: Festival of studying and student life! The goal remained the same – that the possibilities related to financial support for studies in Croatia and abroad are more easily presented and accessible to all pupils, students, parents and teaching staff. However, in addition to the educational fair, EduFest also offers a number of other contents and topics related to studying and student life.
The exhibitors at EduFest are various institutions and organisations, such as government institutions, units of local government (counties, municipalities, towns), universities from Croatia and other countries, embassies, foreign cultural centers, private companies and foundations.
These exhibitors present their study programmes, language courses and exams, educational informing services and scholarship and grants for studying and working in Croatia and abroad. The possibilities for student work placements and career development are also very interesting.
The exhibition part of EduFest will be complemented with a rich program that includes various interactive formats (e.g. workshops, mini round tables, Q&A sessions, prize games), but also classic formats, such as panel discussions or presentations, dedicated to a wide range of topics stemming from studying and student life. starting from already traditional topics related to studies in Croatia and abroad, scholarship opportunities, to student internships and jobs, volunteering and quality spending of free time. This year, current topics include student mental health, digitization of education, artificial intelligence in education, civic engagement of young people and many others.

We have been working on improvements continually, and special attention has been given to pre-recorded webinars, new ways of engaging with the audience and an interactive way to present the exhibitors.
The Institute for the Development of Education regularly checks the statistics and conduct surveys among the visitors to find out more details about their interests. Based on the results of an anonymous visitor survey conducted at educational fairs and internal evaluations, in 2024 we are focusing on:
- More intense cooperation with high schools
We organize counselling and educational webinars for high school students from all over Croatia and we are promoting EduFest at these events.
- Change of format and concept
We are returning to the physical venue with a name change and a refreshed concept so that the event follows the needs and interests of visitors. Exhibitors can choose from several packages.
- Inclusion of partners in EduFest program
The possibility to co-create EduFest program according to the wishes of the partners enables them to present important and interesting content to the visitors.
- Presentation of individual partners in a special part of the EduFest programme
Based on the experience gathered during previous years, we wish to secure a larger number of visitors to individual exhibitors’ virtual booths. In order to achieve this goal, the exhibitors can present themselves in the special part of the EduFest programme.
EduFest has traditionally been visited mostly by high school and undergraduate students, while parents and teachers are also interested. Also, EduFest regularly gets excellent media coverage, which contributes to the visibility of the exhibitors.
